I’ve been thinking about putting all the pieces together. I think I need a bodysuit, and a cloak. Hubby thinks I just need a leotard. Wrong!! First of all, it is supposed to be armor so why would I want skin showing. Second, how am I going to get the parts to stay on my bare skin? Glue? Tape? Nope! Third, the armor I am making doesn’t cover much of the legs. Only the fronts of the legs are covered. Butt cheeks, backs of thighs, backs of calves, not covered at all. Fourth, just nope!
I started thinking about a cloak to cover the back, this means I need to learn to make one. Probably have to hand sew it since I don’t have a sewing machine. The problem with hand sewing is that I get impatient and ready to be done, so I start taking longer stitches. Not so good. I found this pattern, and it seems to be what I am looking for, but plain, no fancy stuff.
I started looking for material, too. I am in south Florida, so light weight is a must! I saw these 2 materials that I thought might work. What do you think? I’m leaning toward the light grey.
As for the bodysuit, I am torn. Like I said, south Florida! I don’t even like wearing pants, give me shorts every day! But, I need something to hold the pieces on. I can make straps to hold the pieces on, but doing that over naked skin won’t be very attractive. I am not the skinny thing I used to be. So definitely need pants, and probably leggings of some sort, which will be hot and sticky, and uncomfortable. It is only for a day, so I will manage. But for the upper body, I think I need long sleeves, also hot, sticky, uncomfortable. I can make straps for all the upper body pieces except the pauldrons. I can’t see how to strap them on without it looking weird. I’m thinking along the lines of rare earth magnets attaching them to the top I wear, so definitely need sleeves.
I’ll keep updating as I think more about it
