Wow! I really suck at updating this. It’s been over 4 months, I’m going to try to remember all the things that I forgot to say in 4 months. This will all be general stuff, I’ll try to get more specific in the appropriate categories.
Ok, last time I was on here, I had started working on my mermaid again. I am still working on it a little at a time, but I am trying to add more products to Sherry’s Creations. The site has a higher priority.
I had a craft fair in March, and I sold more than the last one! More information in the crafting section.
On the site, I am learning how to give options to different products, add more products, and in general make it more attractive. I will be writing some articles about crafting, and eventually I plan to post videos, even possibly starting a YouTube channel. That last one is still up in the air, I don’t really like being on camera 🙁
In other news, I have medical and dental insurance this year. I found a dentist less than 1/2 mile from home, and even closer to work. I have been, and we have a plan. I need to get a root canal on possible 2 teeth, then we will crown the top front 4, then possibly a couple of implants to hold a partial plate. Lots of money out of pocket still 🙁 but necessary. They don’t do root canals, so I have to find someone. The closest I found that takes my insurance is almost 5 miles away. Not much, but not walkable or easy. I have an appointment on Monday.
My new doctor is even closer to home. Only 3 blocks away. Very nice and easy 🙂 I had a general exam, and my blood pressure average of 3 readings was 134/82. Not good 🙁 After my appointment I realized that I have to do something about it. I decided to be better about my eating habits. On April 1, I stopped eating the yogurt at work, and even more, I stopped eating the toppings! I did have a vanilla latte on that day, but I haven’t had one since then. I went back to get blood taken, and my results weren’t as bad as I expected. I do have high cholesterol 🙁 212 Not too high, but enough that I was happy I had already made the decision to do better. My B12 was through the roof, almost double normal. I had been taking B12 supplements to give me more energy, but that stopped when I saw the results. Everything else was in the normal range. The doctor wants to check again in 6 months. I think there will be a good change, and I won’t have to be on medications. I really don’t want to start down that road. So far, so good. I don’t feel a difference yet, but I have lost 11 1/2 pounds since April 1st! A work neighbor brought her blood pressure machine and set me up about 3 weeks after I started. I was down 10 points!!
Work was crazy busy this Spring Break. Record sales, so very busy, I had to have someone come in to help. I couldn’t keep up with filling toppings or machines alone. It has quieted down now, but I still have help on Monday mornings. Cherie came back!!! She worked here years ago and was convinced to come back for a few shifts a week. I think I even wrote in here when she left 🙁 And now I get to write that she is back! 🙂
I got my annual haircut a few weeks ago, and ended up with a lot less hair. I used the same stylist as last year and got the same style. I guess if I ask for the length to be bra strap, I should wear a bra. Lesson learned. It is just past my shoulders, I have to tilt my head back to touch the bottom of my hair from behind. So much difference, hopefully it keeps me cool this summer. I colored my hair the next weekend, and it was much, much easier!! And faster!!
This past weekend was Esther’s birthday weekend, and we went for mani-pedis. I got purple toes, not literally, that was in April. Pretty purple polish on my toes 🙂 I also got gel tips and polish on my fingernails. French manicure and still working short. They look great, and I haven’t chipped or broken or cracked or lost one yet. It hasn’t been a full week left, but we’ll see. Crossing my fingers.
Ok, purple toe in April. As I mentioned, work was super busy. I almost got caught short with my ordering. Both freezers were almost completely empty. We had to get yogurts made from our ice cream/custard supplier. I was determined not to get caught like that again, so I ordered a lot. The first week of that was perfect, the next week, not so much. I order on Wednesdays for delivery on the next Monday. Sometimes it’s hard to predict how busy we will be. We ended up being slow. Numbers were good, but we didn’t sell as much yogurt. Very confusing! I over-ordered, and we didn’t have room for the next week’s order that came in on Monday. It’s nuts!!! Oh, back to purple toe. I got lost in the story, sorry.
During the time that we had so many cases of yogurt, it was hard to find space in our freezers. We get cases that have 6 1/2-gallon cartons, and cases that have 4 1-gallon jugs. Someone unpacked 3 cases of jugs and tried to stack them in the freezer where we keep the unopened cases. Easier to store that way. I saw that on the next Monday, and tried to unstack them because it was unstable, and unsafe. See where I am going with this? Yes, one of those not properly stacked or balanced jugs of yogurt slid out of the freezer and landed on my left middle toe. Directly on the toe, right below the nail, and not on any other toe. My toe looked like a purple grape with a nice pink toenail. I am still surprised that my toenail wasn’t affected. Fortunately, it wasn’t broken. I could move it and walk on it. It still bothers me some, so we think it might have a hairline fracture. So far it hasn’t stopped me from doing anything. The next day it took me twice as long to walk to work, but I could still walk 🙂
Rob and I started taking ballroom dance classes. For someone that used to teach the subject, he kind of sucks. I caught on easier than he did. The problem is that he doesn’t remember the steps (it has been around 40 years since he danced) and he is frustrated with himself for not remembering. He needs to learn one step and do it perfectly before going on to the next. We did this with the Waltz, Tango, Foxtrot, and ChaCha. I got so frustrated with his frustration that I told him we were done. He said I could dance with the other men, but men are outnumbered 2:1 usually, so it’s not fair to the other women that didn’t bring a partner. So we’re done with ballroom classes 🙁 But we do know one step from each of those dances 🙂
I think that is everything that went on in the last 4 1/2 months. We’ll see. I’ll update some of the categories with pictures and information soon.
