Ok, part 2. I have been working on getting caught up while I am at work, so I get interrupted quite a bit. Then I lose my train of thought. This month is the slowest month, so I started bringing my computer with me. Fortunately, they don’t mind at all. I’ve been catching up on the series I was watching on NetFlix, finally on the final season! It only took me 3 years 🙁 I just finished watching an old movie on Disney+. I had never seen the whole movie, just bits and pieces. That Darn Cat came out the year I was born, so I guess it’s ok that I missed it before :))
This summer I went back to Illinois to see my parents 🙂 It was a good visit. I flew in to the airport near mom, stayed the night, drove down to see my dad and Kay, stayed 2 nights with them, drove back up to mom, stayed another night with her, then flew back the next day. Short trip, but got to see them and spend time with them. I felt so relaxed and calm when I got back. I had long flight delays on both legs, but it was still relaxing overall.
Now on to other stuff. I am trying something new with crafting. I am trying to make my own cross-stitch patterns. I have made a pattern and am now stitching it to see if it looks the way I think it will. If I make my own, I can sell them on Etsy as a download. I may try putting kits together to sell with my patterns if I manage to do them well enough. And the step after that is to try to make it more like a subscription service…send one every month, or 2 months, possible give them the choice. This is all up in the air, and I seem to be doing a bit of brainstorming while I’m writing. I have been trying to teach my friend Esther how to crochet, but she is in the middle of a new job, and a new home. Crafting got a little lost in the shuffle.
I did get a few ideas for the YouTube tutorial videos I’ve been thinking about. Zoom and hold the camera on how to hold all the things at once. On that subject, Rob and I originally talked about using my GoPro my dad gave me to record my mudruns. Unfortunately, I keep forgetting to wear it. I have another run in October, so hopefully I’ll remember. Back to the videos, the last time Rob and I were talking about doing them, he says we need to use his fancy camera. Another thing that has gotten out of my control. He says that I need to have my hair colored the same for all of the videos, I need to look the same. That is complicated. I color my own hair, and I do a variety of colors. Mostly shades of blues and purples, but never looks the same. I also let it fade. Currently, I am almost completely natural, that means mostly grey 🙂 I’m ok with it, and it makes it easier to play with colors. I don’t have to bleach, I just put it on. It takes about 3 hours, 1 for putting the color on, 1 to let the color set (I do not use chemicals!), and 1 to rinse the extra out, and get the splatter off my face, arms, legs, feet, hands, the walls, sink, floor, pretty much everywhere. The first time Rob saw it, he said that it looked like a Smurf exploded! It kind of did. Anyway, keeping it fresh is a lot to keep up with, so I usually just let it naturally fade. It has been about 6 months since the last time, but I still have streaks of color here and there. I’ll do it again soon, but I don’t want to do it every week. It is a pain in the ass, and very time-consuming. Hubby has also mentioned that I need to wear make-up for the videos. I wear full make-up on Saturday nights for date night with hubby, eyeliner and lipstick for going out with friends, but I don’t use it much. Another time-consuming pain in the ass. If I do the videos his way, I would have to spend so much time doing the hair and make-up that I don’t feel that I would have time for much else. 🙁 Wow, this was in the crafting part of my post, not exactly on topic, but still somewhat pertinent. Maybe.
I made some baby stuff recently, and enjoyed crocheting again. It just gets too hot down here and my hands sweat 🙁 At work we keep the front door open, so it doesn’t cool down too much 🙁 At home, Rob is always cold, so when we turn on the A/C, it is set at 78. Fortunately, I do get it down to 73 when I go to bed, but he turns it back up to 75 when he comes in. We used to lower it to 68 when I went to bed, but the landlord has had to replace it twice because I blew out the motor 🙁 Back to the point, I am trying to make more baby stuff and will put them on my table at the craft fair when I start doing that.
I haven’t done much cosplay since last Halloween. I just checked and I didn’t post any pictures of the costume. I guess that is another post I need to do.
OK, I need to make some posts in the crafting area and in the cosplay area. Exercise, too. Check those sections out, too.
