I bet you are wondering what a skoolie is. I certainly did when my hubby brought it up.
A Skoolie is a school bus converted to a living space. Very similar to an RV, but the interior is set up to your specifications, and can be changed if you don’t like it. You do it yourself, so you can do what you want. It is also safer in an accident than an RV. Think about it, the bus is designed to protect children, it is a tank!
With all of the hoopla and craziness in the world right now, we realized that we wanted to get away from it all. With a skoolie, we can go where we want, when we want. Some RV parks don’t let skoolies in, but plenty do. We are also talking about boondocking.
Boondocking is basically going off-grid. Some parks allow you to drive off the beaten path and stay for a couple of weeks. No neighbors, no traffic, just nature. Now, I do NOT like camping, but if I have a bed, power, and a place to get away from bugs, I’m good. We are going to install solar panels across half of the top of the bus, and make the other half into a place to relax, lay there and gaze at the stars. We’ll also have a generator and a composting toilet so that we don’t have to deal with dumping a black tank.
