Last week was weird.
Sunday, a friend of mine, Esther J, was side swiped while riding her bicycle. Her bike is totaled, and she is mostly ok, but she broke 2 bones in her hand. Yes, the driver is known, even though she tried to drive off when Esther stood up, because apparently if you stand up, you aren’t injured. Crazy people. The police came and took the report, and the driver kept interrupting him to ask if she could leave yet. I don’t understand people.
Monday, I had to place orders from 4 different suppliers at work because a huge festival is scheduled for the weekend.
Tuesday morning, even before I went to work, I got an order for 3 shamrock magnets from a co-worker, Debbie. I had one stitched and another started, so I just needed to finish that one and make one more. Easy enough, I said I would have them to her by Saturday when she worked next. I had Wednesday during the day, Thursday, and Friday during the day to finish. No problem, except…weirdness.
Also on Tuesday, in the morning, I had to unpack and put away 2 of the orders. Another order was delivered at 5:30, I was supposed to leave at 6, but the people working that night were the 2 owners. One is an 85 year old man, and the other is his daughter. He can’t lift the 40 pound boxes and put them away, and she won’t put them where they can be found the next day. She got there at 5:45, with a carload of supplies. She put away her supplies, and said that she would put the delivery away, I could go. I said I would do it. I got to leave around 7. Long day.
Esther J, let me know that she had surgery on her hand scheduled for Friday, but since she was hit by a car, they want to check for other problems that might interfere with the success of the surgery. Could I take her to the appointment at noon Wednesday? Of course I would!!
Wednesday, I went to pick her up early, and played with her dog and cat 🙂 We took her insurance paperwork, keys and water for the road. We got to the doctor’s office in plenty of time for them to go over the insurance papers before the appointment. I filled out the forms for her because of course it was her right hand that was broken 🙂 I definitely remember her birthday now!! The nurse doing the paperwork asked for the co-pay, and Esther went to get it out of the card holder on the back of her phone, and realized that she had forgotten her phone! She had put the phone down while rearranging things to get her keys to lock the door, and never picked it back up. She started getting so stressed!! The nurse was great, saying it’s ok, we can get it later, don’t worry, don’t stress out, it happens. Esther still stressed 🙁 I paid the co-pay so she wouldn’t have to stress that, but not having her phone was a big deal. She was waiting for calls from doctors and insurance people, so she worried. The appointment went great, and I was able to get a little done on a shamrock while waiting for her. When we left, we went straight to her house to get the phone, then to pick up her prescription for the pain meds she needed after the surgery. We got to the pharmacy, and it was closed for lunch. Another stressor for her, plus she was starting to hurt, and hadn’t eaten. We went to the grocery store to get what she would need for a couple of days, then back to the pharmacy. The insurance wouldn’t pay for the new prescription, does she still want it? Pain meds for a broken hand? Yes, she still wants it. It will be ready in 3 hours. They didn’t fill it because the insurance didn’t pay. Weird. We went back to her house, got her fed and medicated. I played with the dog and cat some more 🙂 I still got home in plenty of time to get to work that night.
Thursday, I got most of my stuff done in the morning, then turned on the computer to watch Netflix while I finished the shamrocks I needed. I had no internet. Not on the computer, either phone, or my Kindle. WTF??? I asked Alexa for the time to see if she had internet, and she was fine. I rebooted my devices, still couldn’t connect. OK, let’s reboot the router. Hmmm, where is the router? Hubby usually does something behind the TV, let’s look there. Nope, don’t have a clue. Let’s wake up hubby 🙂 Woke him up, he told me things to try. Nope. He told me more things to try. Nope. All of his devices (phones, tablets, computer) were connected. All of Alexa’s devices (dots, clock, lights) were connected. None of mine. NONE! We pay to have unlimited devices connected to the internet, yet none of mine. Now I have to wait for him to get up. Fine, I’m going for a walk. Go out for a walk, visit Nathalie since she can always cheer me up. Much cheerier, I get home and do other things that don’t require internet. Not very productive things, but other things 🙂 Hubby finally wakes up, and looks for the problem again. Magically, all of my devices are now connected 🙁 GRRRR! Now I’m too frustrated to get anything accomplished. Many hours later, I get back to the shamrocks. Finish the second one, one to go. Get started on that, only get the outline stitched before Hubby wants to start game night. I still have Friday
Friday, it takes 2 hours to do the gold beads around the outside!! And I consider this one of the easier ones to make. I get the next round of beading done in 1/2 hour, but I do not get it finished before I go to work, and I don’t take it with me because Fridays have been busy. I am also working with someone other than Hubby on a Friday night for the first time in 5 or 6 years. Kind of hard to adjust, but it was fine. On the bright side, the woman that ordered the pinecone ornament, and shamrock pin 2 weeks before came to pick them up…and pay 🙂
Saturday, I work my butt off to get the rest of the last shamrock done and walk to the store to deliver it. During the festival. I go in the back door to drop it off because I do NOT want to try and get through the crowds to try and get in the front door. I get in and out quickly. Relief! I finished them and dropped them off. No new shamrocks for at least a day or 2 🙂 Had to stop to see Nathalie and get those good vibes she hands out 🙂 JoAnne was there, and she is a feel-good person too, so double shot!! Now to get home to prepare for date night 🙂
No weirdness here, just fun. Went home and took a relaxing bath, put the hot rods in my hair, we had pizza. Still relaxing, put on my make-up, got dressed, and then got a surprise. He decided to take me to Gingers first! YAY! Friends of ours own it, and we haven’t seen them in over 2 years. It felt great. Loved seeing them. Then we went to a nightclub, and just had a date. It was a good night.
Sunday now, and so far, no weirdness 🙂
